You're Pretty Amazing!

One of the fun things about being a Studio Calico subscriber is PreSale time.  It happens on the 27th of every month at 5pm in Wales which is quite a good time for me.  This month's presale has just happened and this month I have been very good.  No extras for me this month, just my Studio Calico Project Life kit coming this month.

Last month, this was not the case as I bought a couple of dies at Presale, the birthday die and the die featured below were snapped up quickly during Presale.

I loved the You're Pretty Amazing craft die.  I was really inspired  when I saw it and wanted to make teacher's thank you cards with it.  Unfortunately it didn't quite turn up in time for those cards but last night I made come cards with it anyway.  The funky design of the die ties in well with the Amy Tangerine Sketchbook collection

Hand Made Cards

I love to scrapbook but I occasionally make cards for close friends and family when they have birthdays/christmas.  As today is the 10th June it's time for Shimelle's 10 things - a day where bloggers get together and list their own 10 Things on their blogs.  I occasionally take part, here's a link to my other 10 things posts.

Below are 10 cards that i have hand made for people celebrating birthdays and Christmas.

How to make a comic style birthday card

It was my husbands birthday last week, Happy Birthday A! As I was looking around for something different for his birthday card I found some great comic style wrapping paper for his presents from the kids. Then the idea hit me. I could use the wrapping paper to make a matching card as well.

Inspired I grabbed what was left of the paper and covered a A5 white card with it. I then picked 3 of the little square images that I liked and stuck them onto some spare white to give them som stability

I then put foam squares onto the back of these pieces ready to mount them onto the card. (as shown below).

And finally I used the gift tag as a birthday greeting. Awesome!

Here's the finished card:

It's a really quick personalised birthday card that he loved.

More Card Commissions

Over the last few weeks I have received quite a few commissions for cards and these two have to be my favorite.  The first one is a wedding card which I made from Sj's Little Musings range.  The set I set was "I do" "I do too" from digi stamp shop a bargain at £1.50.  I love this card, so simple and elegant, can't wait to use the rest of the stamps in the range.

The other commission was for a Christening Card and feeling so inspired from my wedding card I slightly copied the same technique on this card by printing the message directly onto the card.

I loved these cards so much I made more than one so they will be available to buy from FCC soon.

Mother's Day Card Ideas

I have been lucky enough to be selling my handmade cards at the Forest Children's Centre in Duffryn, Newport. This year is the first year i've had requests for Mother's Day Cards so off I went last week to create some. Here are the ones I made from the tags i showed you in Wednesday's WOYWW post.

Last Thursday night Hobbycraft had a friends and family night where you could get 20% off all purchases so I promptly went and bought the crown jewels glimmer mist set and a couple of embossing folders for my Vagabond. Feeling inspired I made these 2 cards using the embossing folders, some prima flowers and a message all covered in pearl glimmer mist.

Love them so much I can't wait to play some more and make some birthday cards.

Where has the time gone?

I can't believe it's been nearly 2 weeks since I last blogged!  I recently changed jobs as you can see here and although I have loads more free time I've been so tired I've not been able to enjoy it, last Friday and Saturday night I fell asleep n the sofa before 11pm! Feel much better this week so lots of blogging to catch up on!

First up is the 60th Birthday Card to a very special man, Bob Barry, who works really hard with Duffryn Community Link helping people when they need it the most.  I really enjoyed making this card and all they techniques on it.

Almost everything on the card is Tim Holtz!  The background is from the Pappillion set, I used his Ribbon tape and 60 is made from Grungeboard and I used Vintage Photo distress ink everywhere!  Other than that a few torn book pages covered with Gesso and a pastel stripy paper which has grunged up nicely with distress ink complete the card.

I've also had a couple of commissions over the last couple of weeks, a 4th birthday card, shown below and a wedding card and christening card to follow later this week.

Well, see you tomorrow for WOYWW, bye for now.

Tattered florals Birthday cards

I have been working on some birthday cards with my new Tattered Florals die. They've turned out really great, I'm so impressed! It's amazing how easy they came together with the best products products from Tim Holtz. Love the Adage tickets and tissue tap - finally picked some up at ArtsyCrafts, they make crafting so easy. Thank you Tim.
