Favourite New TV Programs 2012/13 (Friday Five 15 February 2013)

Here's a list of my favourite new American TV series from the last 6 months:

1. Nashville - Only seen 2 episodes of this but I have loved it. Hayden Panettiere's character seems to be brilliantly complicated and I can't wait to see how this show develops.

2. Beauty and the Beast - only a few episodes in on this one and i can tell I'm going to love it.  Always liked Jay Ryan when he was in Neighbours and Sea Patrol so I was really excited when I heard about this show, it seems the Australians are taking over American TV!!  The chemistry between Jay and Kristin Kreuk who plays Beauty (Catherine Chandler) is really intense and I really like watching them together.   I'm really interested to see how think link's with Catherine's mother and Muirfield develop, I feel there's a really long and in depth story there.

3. Elementary -  Another one of my favourite actors is Jonny Lee Miller (since his Trainspotting days - if that doesn't giveaway my age) so this was a must for me.  I love it when someone takes something old and transforms it into something completely new just by changing a few small things, for example making Sherlock a recovering addict and Watson a woman and his sponsor.  I really like that twist and thought it was portreyed really well by Lucy Lui.  All the episodes I've seen so far have been really good and can't wait to watch the rest of the series.

4. Arrow -  I have loved Arrow, from the very first episode it seems to have that Batman film action/adventure scenes as well as some really interesting characters. I love the way the episodes keep going back to Oliver's time on the island as if they are supposed to mean something. I realise that the flashbacks link in to the episode they feature in but I also think that they are there for another reason. So excited to keep watching and see where the series leads.

5. Chicago Fire - This is my favorite new show this year.  I have loved Jesse Spencer since his Neighbours days and all the way through House so was so excited when I heard he had won the lead role in Chicago Fire. That made it a must watch tv show for me plus Taylor Kinney who players Severide is pretty tasty as well. The whole firehouse team seem to be well cast and gel together really well. Each episode is well written linking the different crews in so many different ways. There have been quite a few interesting relationships starts so i'm keen to watch what happens next..

This is defiantly my favourite new show this year!

Are you watching any of them?  What do you think of my list?  Is yours any different, let me know in the comments.

My Favourite Summer TV Programs (Friday Five 31/8/12)

Here's a list of 5 of my favourite summer TV programs this year.

1. Hart of Dixie - the first season of this series shown on the Really Channel in the UK. It stars Rachel Bilston as a New York doctor moving to be a GP in a small village in BlueBell, Alabama.  I love the mixed up relationships between the 5 main characters and can't wait to see why the 2 leading ladies end up in wedding dresses in the Season 1 Finale.  So pleased this has been picked up for a second season.

2. Royal Pains - loving this one since I found the first series episodes starring Andrew McCarthy. It's on Universal Channel in the UK and features a Doctor who visits the rich and famous people in the Hamptons.

3. Fairly Legal - found this one during the trailers for Royal Pains what caught my eye was that the main character categorised her nearest and dearest as characters from the Wizard of Oz. What kept me watching was awesome storylines showing the main character trying to negotiate delicate situations. Great Sunday night telly.

4. The Finder - this is a new Series that I've just started watching. It's about a guy who loves "finding things" and he never gives up even during a hurricane.

5. Sea Patrol - I fell in love with Conrad Coleby when he was on Home and Away and knew he moved onto Sea Patrol. When I found the first episode of season 3 on Universal channel I found myself instantly hooked. Knowing that Conrad didn't appear until series 4 the episode when ET is killed and watching the rest of the cast especially Nav deal with this every day got me instantly hooked. Also as a huge Neighbours fan seeing Jay Ryan and Kristian Schmidt in the episodes really helped. I'm now starting season 5 gutted to know its the last season as it ended last year in Australia and looking forward to catching Season 1 and 2 soon.
What has been your favourite shows this year? Leave me a comment and let me know.

Friday5 - 11/3/11

1. Looking forward to S's class assembly this morning, she's playing a bird and get's to do some ballet in it. She's so excited - we get a daily report on how the dance is progressing.

3. Really enjoying this week. I've managed to be quite organised with everything, work, home and crafting. Even managing to get some of this post written early!

3. That's because atm I'm doing this sitting in a cold car waiting for A and the kids to come out of the Dolman Theatre after seeing Camp Rock.

4. I had some brilliant news this morning, I got a new job Teaching Swimming in Newport.  I'm now going to be working there on a Monday and Tuesday night and Saturday Mornings.

5. Got to write my resignation letter for the call centre can't wait to have my Thursday, Friday and Sundays free.

Friday5 - 18/02/11

1. It's 7 days until Tim Holtz. OMG I'm so nervous. So nervous! I'll probably just sit in the corner and not say anything to anyone!

2. Fed up today. One of my many jobs is in a sky call centre upgrading existing customers. I'm fed up of customers upgrading to sky sports just of the cricket. I already know far too much about the cricket world cup! I'll be glad when it's over.

3. Going to Carmarthen on Sunday. Looking forward to catching up with family a looking round some of the craft shops in West Wales.

4. Did I say it was 7 days to Tim Holtz? Before ArtsyCrafts he's doing a TSV on QVC and I was gutted to find out that the TSV is not going to be the Vagabond. We've got to wait even longer for it to be released in the UK - it won't be available til the end of March. When I saw the demo of it at CHA in January last year I knew it was the die cutter of choice but to have to wait 14 months for it I may just go and by a big shot.

5. The TSV looks like it going to be stamps or inks. I'm a bit disappointed with the examples on the QVC website but I'm sure Tim will come up with some great ideas. Can't wait - it should be a good week.

Friday5 - 11/2/11

1. It's 14 days to Tim Holtz... OMG 14 days! OMG!

2. Not had much time to craft this week as on Tuesday night I had the opportunity to review Energia the Holiday on Ice show for the South Wales Argus, a local newspaper.

3. The show was fantastic, brilliant, excellent well worth going to see. The ice skaters were all amazing as were the Cardiff Academy of Ice Skating. If you get a chance to see a holiday on ice show you must take it.

4. Even more behind with my crafting today as an accident on the M4 prevented me from coming home while my youngest was in Meithrin (nursery) and I ended up going for a long walk around Spytty Retail Park instead. Had a lovely time looking round the shops as I don't normally get time to do that. Next had some great ideas for my daughter's bedroom as I've promised her a redesign this year.

5. Will post pix of my finished projects either Sunday or Monday as I'm working two jobs tomorrow so won't get time then.

Friday5 - 4/2/11

1. It's 21 days to PaperArtsy with Tim Holtz.

2. It was my birthday yesterday. I had a lovely quiet day, in-between all the school runs.

3. I got 2 Glee albums (no's 2 and 3), some craft bits (from Poundland!), 2 journals, Mrs Beeton's Everyday Cook book, a bottle of Cava and a bottle of Rose and some chocolates. Brilliant presents, thanks everyone.

4. My big present is to go for a day with "Tim Holtz". I think this will be the first time in about 8 years I have had a night all on my own, no kids and no husband. Can't wait! But also I'm glad I've only booked 2 nights away - I'll be missing them like crazy.

5. I'm feeling lousy today, I booked a couple of nights off work and instead of enjoying them I've been feeling rotten. Why does it always happen like this? Back in work tomorrow - teaching swimming in the morning!
